Q: What time do I need to have my garbage out?
A: City Ordinances state that all garbage and or waste material must be set out no later than 7am on your collection day. You can set it out the night before your pickup day.
Q: Can I set my garbage out in a trashcan?
A: No. Garbage must be bagged and set behind the curb in front of your residence. The city does not empty garbage cans.
Q: Does the city furnish trashcans?
A: No
Q: Does the city pickup electronic items?
A: Yes. Items such as TV’s, radios and microwaves can be set out with your regular household garbage.
Q: When is brush trimmings or yard waste picked up?
A: Once per week by the brush truck.
Q: What are the regulations on the size of brush for pickup?
A: All tree limbs must be detached from the main body of the tree and must not be no more than five (5) inches in diameter and four (4) feet in length.
Q: When are leaves picked up?
A: Leaf collection begins November 1st and ends March 31st. Between April 1st and October 31st leaves must be bagged. Bags must be of sufficient strength to prevent splitting when picked up. Leaves must be curbside, free of any trash or garbage and must not block any sidewalk, driveway or ditch.
Q: If I pay someone to trim trees, clear shrubbery, vegetation overgrowth, landscaping/land clearing, will the city pick up the debris?
A: No. City ordinance states: All tree limbs, brush, tree tops, stumps or any other debris created by a licensed tree trimmer or by a contractor, or property owner clearing land, the debris must be disposed of by the tree trimmers, contractor or property owners.
Q: Does the city pickup appliances and furniture?
A: Yes: Once every two weeks. It is best to call the sanitation department and schedule a pickup. All appliances must empty and doors removed.
Q: Where can I get a recycling bin and is there any cost?
A: Call the sanitation department and one will be delivered to your residence. There is no cost for bins.
Q: Can the brush truck come in my driveway?
A: No. It is illegal for city workers to go on private property. All tree trimmings, yard waste, leaves, brown goods and white goods must be collected curbside.
